NEW YORK, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- The latest USA Today/Gallup Poll has U.S. Sens. Hillary Clinton and John McCain leading their respective opponents for New York's presidential primary.
New York is part of the Super Tuesday contest Feb. 5 where 24 states and one territory hold primaries and caucuses to award 281 Democratic delegates and 101 Republican delegates, USA Today reported Monday.
Polling by the newspaper and the Gallup organization between Wednesday and Saturday last week shows former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani trailing McCain, R-Ariz., by double digits among registered Republicans who say they plan to vote.
In the Democratic race, Clinton, who represents New York in the Senate leads Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., 2-1, USA Today said.
A Marist poll showed the economy is the chief worry of New Yorkers with 46 percent of Democrats and 39 percent of Republicans listing it first.
As for the most important quality in a candidate, 33 percent of Democrats picked the ability to get things done compared with the 37 percent of Republicans who chose that quality.
