DUBLIN, Ireland, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- An early-morning, six-vehicle crash in Dublin, Ireland, Saturday caused significant travel delays along the M50 highway.
Transport officials said that after the multi-vehicle crash blocked off all of the highway's southbound lanes, travel was delayed for more than an hour, The Irish Times reported.
There were no life-threatening injuries reported.
"This is yet another example of the need for a quick-reaction force with the necessary powers to keep traffic moving and to ensure emergency services can reach the site of an accident," Fine Gael transport spokesman Fergus O'Dowd told the Times.
"There are repeated examples over the past years of motorists being caught on the M50 or Dublin's key traffic arteries for hours due to a single accident or road works."
