CAIRO, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Members of the Arab League are meeting in Cairo to discuss the political crisis in Lebanon, as well as the numerous problems facing the Gaza Strip.
Arab League officials told KUNA Saturday that when the group's talks continue Sunday, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip will be the only topics discussed.
The Arab League's secretary-general reportedly will offer up his report on the situation in Lebanon and the league's attempts to help the country end its political crisis, the Kuwaiti news agency said.
The league also will discuss Israel and the Middle Eastern country's ongoing efforts against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Mohamed Sobeih, the league's assistant secretary-general for Palestine and the occupied Arab territories affairs, labeled Israel's efforts in the region "a genocide and a crime against humanity."
KUNA reported Sobeih has called for potential alternatives for the troubled region that could assist the Palestinians residing there.
