WASHINGTON, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Retired Army Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf, coalition forces commander in the 1991 Gulf War, Wednesday endorsed GOP presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
"Sen. John McCain has served our country with honor in war and in peace," the man known as "Stormin' Norman" said in a statement. "He has demonstrated the type of courageous leadership our country sorely needs at this time. For that reason, he has my complete support."
Meanwhile, just days after he dropped out of the race to become Republican nominee, Rep. Hunter Duncan, R-Calif., threw his support to former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, The Hill reported Wednesday.
Hunter's presidential campaign, built around his positions on national security and immigration issues, never took off. He dropped out after the Nevada caucus Saturday.
