Pentagon held in contempt in Gitmo case
Thursday, December 10
WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- A man carrying a shotgun was arrested Friday near the U.S. Capitol in Washington, a report said.
U.S. Capitol Police spokesman Kimberly Schneider said no one was injured and no shorts were fired during the incident, ABC News reported. However, police shut down six blocks near the Capitol to all traffic.
Police said a light-green older model truck with a red camper top was parked on Capitol grounds and was being inspected by a bomb squad robot. The robot lifted several objects out of the vehicle, including a sweatshirt, ABC said.
The unnamed suspect was being held at Capitol Police headquarters near where he was arrested.
Further details were not immediately available.
