Message suggests missing wife had affair

BOLINGBROOK, Ill., Jan. 17 (UPI) -- The attorney for an ex-Bolingbrook, Ill., police officer -- a suspect in his wife's disappearance -- says a text message implies she was having an affair.

The two-sentence message purportedly to Drew Peterson's wife read in part, "You my love are the hottest little (expletive) in the world," and continues to thank the recipient for various sexual acts, the Chicago Tribune said Thursday.

The time stamp on the message is 9:47 a.m. Sept. 20.

Peterson's attorney Joel Brodsky says the message was discovered on a phone also used by Drew's son and adds fuel to speculation Stacy Peterson may have had an affair with another man.

Brodsky claims his client did not send the message and attempted to downplay allegations the affair rumors indicated a motive, the Joliet (Ill.) Herald News reported Thursday.

"You can have all the motives you want -- motives don't make you guilty," he said.

Police suspect Peterson, 53, in the Oct. 27 disappearance of his 23-year-old wife.
