PARDEEVILLE, Wis., Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A Wisconsin man was charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly binding his son with tape and forcing the boy to watch a football playoff game.

Police arrested Mathew Kowland, 36, of Pardeeville, Wis., Monday on tentative felony accusations of being the cause of mental injury and false imprisonment after allegedly forcing his 7-year-old son to wear a Packers shirt and watch a playoff game while bound with heavy tape, the Portage (Wis.) Daily Register reported Wednesday.

"He wanted the juvenile to be a Packers fan and I would suggest he went about it the wrong way," Columbia County Sheriff's Lt. Wayne Smith told reporters.

Pictures of the situation were turned into the police by the victim's mother.

Kowland was fined $186 for the incident and didn't contest the disorderly conduct charges.

"I didn't mean no harm, and he knows that, but I haven't been able to tell him that," Kowland said of the incident, which he claimed began as a family joke.
