NEW YORK, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani has promoted a U.S.-Mexico border fence without mentioning his former interest in a company designing one, a report said.
Giuliani Partners, the company he set up after serving as New York mayor, held an interest in SkyWatch LLC, The New York Times reported Thursday. The relationship began about two years ago and ended in September, when Giuliani Partners gave up its 12.5 percent stake.
In campaign speeches, Giuliani has continued to back a combination of physical and electronic fencing since his relationship with SkyWatch ended.
"It's one part of Rudy's comprehensive plan to end illegal immigration because it makes sense and is good policy," a campaign spokeswoman, Maria Comella, said.
Giuliani's campaign has gambled everything on a big win in the Florida primary. Like most other Republican presidential candidates, he has become an enthusiastic supporter of keeping illegal immigrants out of the country and catching them if they slip through, the report said.
