Angry judge doubles Simpson's bail

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- A Nevada judge told O.J. Simpson that he is either arrogant or ignorant as she doubled his bail Wednesday for failing to stay away from his co-defendants.

District Judge Jackie Glass increased bail to $250,000, the Los Angeles Times reported. Simpson was arrested last week at his home in Florida and returned to Las Vegas after prosecutors said he communicated with one of his co-defendants by sending a message via a bail bondsman.

Simpson was arrested in Las Vegas in October on charges of robbing two sports memorabilia dealers at gunpoint. The former star Buffalo Bills running back and television sports personality said he was trying to retrieve his own property.

Glass warned Simpson that he would be jailed pending trial if he violates bail conditions again.

"I don't know, Mr. Simpson, what the heck you were thinking, or maybe that's the problem -- you weren't," Glass said."I don't know if it's just arrogance. I don't know if it's ignorance. But you've been locked up at the Clark County Detention Center since Friday because of arrogance or ignorance or both."
