CORAL SPRINGS, Fla., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign staff is working without pay in January as the former New York mayor pushes toward the Florida primary.
The campaign reported about $7 million in cash on hand at the end of December. Most of it will be spent attempting a strong showing in Florida's Jan. 29 Republican primary, The New York Daily News reported.
"Frankly, Florida is real important to us," Giuliani said Friday. "So we're going to put, if not everything into Florida, almost everything."
Giuliani has made little impact in the Iowa and Wyoming caucuses and the New Hampshire primaries. He has gambled on winning in Florida, a state full of New York retirees. The schedule, however, leaves him little time to expand his campaign before the Feb. 5 wave of primaries commonly known as Super Tuesday.
Mike DuHaime, Giuliani's campaign manager, said that between 15 and 20 people are working without pay. He is one of them.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who won the Iowa caucuses, and Arizona Sen. John McCain, the winner in New Hampshire, have both spent less money than Giuliani recently.
