Serial killer suspected in Florida

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Police in Daytona Beach, Fla., said they fear there is a serial killer behind the deaths of four women as new evidence came to light Wednesday night.

Police found the white van that was reported missing Dec. 10, along with its driver, 30-year-old Stacey Gage, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported Thursday.

Gage's naked body was found Jan. 2 in a wooded area and police believe she was killed the day after she vanished, the newspaper said.

Police would say little about what was in the van but said it was unoccupied when an officer spotted it.

Daytona Police Chief Mike Chitwood said Gage's death was "eerily similar" to the killings of three other women in late 2005 and early 2006, ABC News reported.

Forensic experts with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement were given the van for examination, the report said.

The first three victims were shot in the head and had histories of prostitution and drug use. Their naked bodies were also found in secluded areas of the city, the reports said.
