Prosecutors seek access to Foley computers

WASHINGTON, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Florida prosecutors have asked U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., to give them access to House computers used by former Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla.

Foley resigned his seat in September 2006 after his sexually explicit e-mail and instant messages to former congressional pages became public.

Under Florida law, it is a felony to use the Internet "to seduce, lure or entice" a minor to commit an illegal act.

ABC News said Pelosi's office was preparing a response to a letter received last week from Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Gerald Bailey, requesting access to any computers Foley might have used.

Lawyers for the U.S. House denied Florida law enforcement officials access to House computers in August.
