JERUSALEM, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- A new poll highlighting the opinions of Israelis suggest they are opposed to many of the conditions involving a resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The poll conducted by B'nai Brith showed most Israelis said they oppose a withdrawal to pre-1967 borders, the division of Jerusalem and the influence of diaspora Jews in the fate of the Israeli capital, the Jerusalem Post said Wednesday.

The poll suggested 66 percent of Israelis opposed a withdrawal to the 1967 border of Israel and 68 percent opposed dividing Jerusalem into Muslim and Jewish quarters.

The poll showed 68 percent of Israelis also supported a new round of elections there prior to reaching a peace deal with the Palestinians.

B'nai Brith World Center Director Alan Schneider said the findings point to a keen interest in the peace process by Israelis, but suggested "Israelis right now are not comfortable in light of current security issues."

The poll surveyed 500 Israelis and had a margin of error of 4.5 percentage points.
