SAN DIEGO, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is investigating a border inspector's claim he was beaten by two Border Patrol agents while off duty.
An employee of U.S. Customs and Border Protection said a vehicle followed him from the Tecate border crossing Thursday after he dropped off his girlfriend, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

About five miles away, the customs employee said the vehicle blocked his path, forcing him to stop, the newspaper said. Two men -- who turned out to be Border Patrol Agents -- then got out of the vehicle, forced him out of his and beat him.
Border patrol officials said there is no official record of the incident.
