LOD, Israel, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Flight traffic returned to normal at Israel's Ben Gurion Airport following a flight stoppage by air traffic controllers protesting a near-accident report.

Air traffic controllers stopped allowing takeoffs from the airport following Wednesday's release of a report detailing a near-accident in August 2006. The report faulted over-worked air traffic controllers for the incident, the Jerusalem Post said Thursday.

Israeli Transportation Minister Shual Mofaz met the controllers' demand for an independent investigation into the incident that controllers blame on the airport's outdated control tower.

The incursion involved an aircraft from Italy's Eurofly and an Israir jet preparing for takeoff.
