ANTI-ABORTION RALLY IN WASHINGTON..

DENVER, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- A 20-year-old anti-abortion activist called for a November 2008 ballot question that would declare the unborn as people under Colorado law.

Kristi Burton, head of Colorado for Equal Rights, is gathering signatures for Initiative 36, which states that "person" designation includes "any human being from the moment of fertilization," The Washington Times said.

Similar measures stalled this year in Michigan, Montana and Oregon but Georgia's legislature may vote soon on putting such a measure before voters, Brian Rooney, spokesman for the Thomas More Law Center in Ann Arbor, Mich., which is aiding such legislation efforts, told the newspaper.

Approval of such measures could force a U.S. Supreme Court showdown over legalized abortion.
