WASHINGTON, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- U.S. presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee said Sunday GOP rival Mitt Romney is showing signs of desperation by attacking other contenders.
Huckabee, a minister and former governor of Arkansas, noted on NBC's "Meet the Press" that Romney, a former governor of Massachusetts, had recently attacked both him and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
"Mitt Romney is running a very desperate and, frankly, a dishonest campaign," Huckabee said. "Now Sen. McCain and I are rivals for the presidency, but I've said on many occasions ... (he) is an honorable man, and I believe he's an honest man."
Huckabee criticized Romney for trying to be on both sides of issues such as gun ownership and abortion.
"And then the things where he's made up these visions that he's had of marching with Martin Luther King and his dad marching with him, you know ... if you aren't being honest in obtaining the job, can we trust you to be honest if you get the job."
