Musharraf, 60, a suburban Chicago anesthesiologist and U.S. citizen, said the death of the former prime minister and ensuing violence in Pakistan raises questions about the future of his native country, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday.

"It's a tragedy," he said. "I don't know what's going to happen in the country."

The doctor told The Sun-Times he might attempt to contact his brother by telephone "but I doubt I can reach him because of the emergency."
