KISSIMMEE, Fla., Dec. 28 (UPI) -- A man who claimed to be working for U.S. Homeland Security told his girlfriend she was in witness protection and kept her under his eye in their Florida home.
Charles Sanchez of Kissimmee has been charged with attempted murder and false imprisonment, WKMG-TV, Orlando reported. He allegedly tried to stab his girlfriend and her children Wednesday.
The girlfriend told investigators that Sanchez told her he had been sent by the government to place her and her children in the Witness Protection Program. She said that she called police when Sanchez disconnected the lights, frightening her children, and he then picked up a knife.
Sanchez was arrested nearby.
The girlfriend said that he insisted on keeping her and the children in his sight at all times and would not allow her to lock any of the doors.
