PANAMA CITY, Panama, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- A teenage girl who survived a Panama plane crash that killed three others was awake and talking Wednesday.
Valerie Lewis called the survival of her daughter, Francesca, 13, miraculous, CNN reported. She either fell out of the Cessna or was ejected on impact, investigators said. Rescuers found her Christmas Day.
Francesca's friend Talia Klein, 13, her American businessman father, Michael, 37, and Panamanian pilot Edwin Lasso died in the Sunday plane crash during a sightseeing trip to the volcano in Chiriqui Province, about 285 miles west of Panama City.
"She's doing all right," Valerie Lewis said. "She is having tests done at the hospital right now, and so far things seem good -- kind of miraculous.
"The fact that she so far doesn't seem to have any major damage seems incredible."
Francesca suffered a fractured arm and cuts. Other tests, including a CAT scan were being performed.
