BUDAPEST, Hungary, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Hungarian police said they fired warning shots to stop and arrest 12 people who tried to illegally enter the country from Serbia.

Hungarian border police detained two Serbian guides and 10 ethnic-Albanians from Serbia's Kosovo Province Monday at the southern Hungarian villages of Morahalom and Asothalom, the Hungarian news agency MTI reported Tuesday.

Police shot in the air to stop the two guides, who allegedly behaved aggressively and ignored Hungarian police's verbal warnings to stop, MTI said.

Police were expected to press charges against the two guides and expel the 10 Kosovo Albanians from Hungary, the Serbian news agency FoNet said.
