BAGHDAD, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Two civilians were killed Monday when a suicide bomber drove a car packed with explosives into a Baghdad military checkpoint.

The Iraqi Interior Ministry said six people were wounded by the blast, which was close to the Iranian Embassy, Kuwait's KUNA news agency reported.

Four vehicles were badly damaged by the explosion, the report said.

To the north, police said an attack Sunday night on a police station on the Iraqi-Iranian border killed two policemen.

The raid was in the region of Karmak, where violent attacks targeting police and the Iraqi military have been on the rise in recent weeks, the report said. There was no indication of who is behind the attacks.
