Bush leaves Washington for Christmas

CAMP DAVID, Md., Dec. 24 (UPI) -- U.S. President George Bush spent the day before Christmas Monday at the Camp David presidential retreat in the Maryland mountains.

Joining the president and first lady were daughters Barbara and Jenna; the first lady's mother, Jenna Welch; the president's sister, Doro Bush Koch, and her family; and the president's brother, Marvin, and his family.

"Like most Americans,'' White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said, the president was "enjoying time with his family."

Planning for Tuesday's Christmas lunch also was set. The presidential party was to dine on roast turkey, cornbread dressing, pancetta green beans, sweet potato casserole, fresh fruit salad, Parker House rolls, pumpkin and pecan pies, and red velvet cake.
