BAGHDAD, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Civilian and military deaths were reported Sunday by bombers and gunmen who attacked in Baghdad and two northern Iraqi cities.

In the city of Mosul, a roadside bomb targeting a police convoy killed a civilian and injured five police officers, officials told the Kuwait News Agency, KUNA. Elsewhere in the city, an Iraqi army officer was killed by a sniper and insurgents blew up the house of a municipal official who wasn't home.

A gunfight in the city of Kirkuk between police and guerrillas resulted in the deaths of two insurgents, two injured police officers and one arrest, police said.

In Baghdad, a roadside bomb aimed at an Iraqi military convoy killed two civilians and injured four others, CNN reported.

About 100 miles south of Baghdad, a bomb planted near the home of a regional human rights official caused only minor injuries from flying glass to the official, his wife and four children.
