India blast kills six

NEW DELHI, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- No one had taken responsibility as of Monday for an explosion in India that destroyed a passenger bus, killing six people and injuring 20 others.

All those killed Sunday were women, including a 13-year-old girl, the BBC reported. Police said the bomb was planted along the bus' route in India's northeastern Manipur state.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast and the United National Liberation Front, one of the main separatist groups in the state, denied any involvement, the report said.

"We don't attack innocent passengers. Our boys will fight against Indian soldiers, not kill our own people traveling in buses like this," a UNLF spokesman was quoted as saying.

The BBC report said the only group that has bombed buses earlier is the People's United Liberation Front , a radical Islamic group claiming to represent local Muslims also known as "Pangals."
