LONDON, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Officials in London have informed the British populous that the records of more than 3 million student drivers went missing in Iowa.
British Transport Secretary Ruth Kelly said Monday the security breach did not contain personal data such as credit cards or bank accounts, but instead listed each driver's name, postal address, phone number, the test fee paid, their test center, a code indicating how the test was paid for and an e-mail address, the Daily Mail reported.
"In May this year, Pearson Driving Assessments Ltd, a private contractor to the Driving Standards Agency, informed the agency that a hard disk drive had gone missing from its secure facility in Iowa City, Iowa," said Kelly.
But with the announcement coming on the same day Chancellor Alistair Darling said ministers still did not know the whereabouts of two missing computer discs containing sensitive information on 25 million people, officials worry it will add more embarrassment to the government.
