BOLINGBROOK, Ill., Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Drew Peterson says he is being scapegoated by insinuations he killed his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, in Illinois.

"Everything being said is not true," Peterson told ABC News in a report published Sunday.

Sources close to the investigation say a grand jury in Illinois has been hearing evidence targeting Peterson, 53, a former police sergeant, in his 23-year-old wife's disappearance nearly two months ago in Bolingbrook, Ill.

Peterson Saturday declined to directly address allegations he recently transferred more than $250,000 to his son from bank accounts, several held jointly in his name and his wife's, ABC News reported.

Authorities also are re-examining the death of Peterson's third wife, Kathleen Savio, found dead in her bathtub shortly before her divorce from Peterson was made final.
