WASHINGTON, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Democrats say they'll push a U.S. budget that eliminates funding for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and pet projects after accusing Republicans of bad faith.

"I was willing to listen to the argument that we ought to at least add more for Afghanistan, but when the White House refuses to compromise, when the White House continues to stick it in our eye, I say to hell with it," House Appropriations Committee Chairman David R. Obey, D-Wis., told the Washington Post.

A $520 billion spending bill deal that would have supplied $30 billion in war funding and boosted domestic spending by $11 billion appeared to collapse Monday following a veto threat from White House budget director Jim Nussle, the Post said Tuesday.
