SAN PEDRO, Philippines, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Another oil spill of undetermined origin threatened Laguna Lake in the Philippines Monday.

The amount of oil was a relatively small amount -- about 10 55-gallon drums worth -- but was uncontained and flowing down a creek that feeds into the lake, Inquirer.net said.

Officials placed containment booms along the creek and sprayed absorbent foam to prevent it from reaching the lake.

Inquirer.net said the oil appeared to be bunker fuel that may have come from a factory in San Pedro. It was the second such oil leak in the area in less than a month.
