MOSCOW, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Russia's space agency says it launched a military satellite into orbit Sunday.

The satellite was attached to a Russian Proton-M rocket fired from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan, said the space agency Roskosmos.

The Kosmos satellite is part of Russia's buildup of its military orbital group, RIA Novosti reported Sunday.
