LONDON, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Four men viewed as security risks by the U.S. Pentagon reportedly are to be released from the detention center at Guantanamo Bay before year's end.
The four had British residency rights when they were detained and the British government has been pressuring the Pentagon to release them, The Times of London reported Saturday.
Abdennour Sameur, Jamil El Banna and Omar Deghayes are to be returned to Britain, while Shaker Aamer will go home to Saudi Arabia, the Times reported.
British security officials say precautions will be taken to ensure the three returning to Britain do not represent a future threat to the United States, the Times reported. The three face being charged or having their movements restricted if there is evidence they are involved in terrorist activity, the Times reported.
The Pentagon has alleged Aamer had deep ties to al-Qaida, while the other three were suspected of terrorists ties, the Times reported.
