ORANJESTAD, Aruba, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- A judge in Aruba ordered the release Friday of a suspect in the disappearance of a U.S. student, finding no compelling evidence against Joran van der Sloot.

Natalee Holloway of Mountain Brook, Ala., was in Aruba with classmates on a high school graduation trip in 2005 when she was last seen. The office of the public prosecutor announced that the judge found no evidence that Holloway had been the victim of violence or that van der Sloot killed her, CNN reported.

Holloway was last seen leaving a night club with van der Sloot. He says he left her on a beach because he wanted to go home, while she wanted to stay.

Van der Sloot and two brothers, Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, were charged with manslaughter last month. The Kalpoes had already been released.
