Man allegedly snatches child at mall

CHICAGO, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- A Chicago man was arrested at a suburban shopping mall Thursday after he allegedly grabbed and tried to walk away with a 4-year-old boy.

The child was visiting Spring Hill Mall in West Dundee, Ill., with a school group, The Chicago Tribune said Thursday.

Arthur Robinzine, 19, was charged with unlawful restraint, aggravated battery in a public place and resisting arrest. He was hospitalized for a psychiatric evaluation.

The child, who was unharmed, was in a group of 11 children and eight adults from a Head Start program in nearby Elgin. They were at the mall before stores opened so the children could play on indoor playground equipment.

Police said the suspect, who allegedly followed the group through the mall, approached the boy, picked him up and started to walk away.

Robinzine was almost immediately tackled by one of the adults and an employee of a cell phone company who works at the mall, the newspaper said.
