HARTFORD, Conn., Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Federal officials have promised an investigation of a spate of incidents involving nooses in Connecticut.
Six nooses have been found at a Stamford construction site, three in West Hartford and one was placed under a black Bridgeport police officer's squad car. In addition, two nooses were placed at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, The Hartford Courant reported.
"We're going to start tacking some hides to a shed here, if we can, because we think the only way to stop this and to get Connecticut off of this map is to start holding people accountable," said U.S. Attorney Kevin O'Connor after a meeting with black leaders.
Noose incidents have been reported around the country since some nooses were hung from a tree at a high school in Jena, La. The nooses appeared after black students sat under the tree, which had been a traditional gathering place for white students.
