Insurgent video shows U.K. hostage in Iraq

LONDON, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- British officials are studying a new television video showing one of five Britons kidnapped in Baghdad last spring.

The images of the hostage appeared Tuesday on satellite station al-Arabiya in a video provided by an insurgent group.

A gang of kidnappers disguised as police officers abducted the hostages in May from the Iraqi Finance Ministry.

The BBC said the name of the man seen on al-Arabiya was not released, but his family was notified. The video was dated Nov. 18 and demanded a British withdrawal from Iraq.
