Canada clobbered by coast-to-coast snow

OTTAWA, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- The same foul weather that buffeted much of the United States Monday brought a major dose of winter to Canada.

Three weather systems moving across Canada promised another day of snow, wind and chilly temperatures

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. said heavy snow fell in Nova Scotia and Vancouver while thousands of residents were without power in frosty Newfoundland early Monday.

Dozens of flights were either canceled or in danger of being scrubbed in Ontario and Quebec, where more wind and freezing rain was forecast.

"It's going to be a very messy day across a good part of the country," CBC's Colleen Jones said.
