Police: Husband kills sick wife
PRATO, Italy, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- An Italian man reportedly told police he killed his wife in her hospital bed to relieve her suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
The 77-year-old man shot his 82-year-old wife Saturday twice in the head and once in the chest in view of hospital staff in Prato, the BBC reported Sunday. He then placed the gun in a corner of the room and waited for police to arrive.
The man told police his wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's eight years ago and he no longer could stand to see her suffer.
