JERUSALEM, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Israel is ramping up security efforts at airports, border crossings and seaports amid an increasing threat of low-grade radiological bombs.
Israeli security personnel employ technological surveillance and intelligence gathering to frustrate possible "dirty bomb" attacks, using new measures to detect nuclear materials at vulnerable points throughout the country, Ynetnews.com reported Sunday.
"There is growing concern regarding 'dirty bombs' among Israeli anti-terrorism units. They work at thwarting such potential attacks on a daily basis," a high-ranking security official told Ynetnews.com.
Fears about low-grade radiological bombs escalated following the arrest of three suspects by Slovakian police for allegedly trafficking in enriched Uranium.
