ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, in an interview Friday on U.S. television, said he is making no deals with anyone, including Benazir Bhutto.

But Pakistani news media have reported that Musharraf and Bhutto, a former prime minister have discussed the upcoming elections, The Press Trust of India reported. Bhutto's Pakistani People's Party denies any meeting.

"I'm not dealing -- I'm not into any deal with anyone," Musharraf said on "Good Morning America" on ABC.

Musharraf, who stepped down Thursday as head of the Pakistani army, said he believes the Jan. 8 elections will be fair.

"We have to see, after the election, how things develop," he said. "And I have all the choices. If the situation develops in a manner which is absolutely unacceptable to me, I have a choice of leaving."

He defended his decision to declare a state of emergency, accusing his opponents of working to "destabilize" his government.
