Quake shakes northeastern Japan

TOKYO, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Officials said initial reports indicate no one was injured and no damage was caused by an earthquake that shook northeastern Japan Monday.

The 5.9-magnitude quake had an epicenter about 24 miles below the sea off the Fukuoka coast, Kyodo news service reported. The Japan Meteorological Agency said the quake registered 4 of a maximum 7 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale in Katsurao, Fukushima, and 3 in Morioka, Iwate.

No tsunami warnings were announced, the Japanese News Review reported.
