GALVESTON, Texas, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- The Texas mother and stepfather of a 2-year-old girl reported missing and found dead in plastic box in Galveston Bay have been arrested.
Galveston County Sheriff's spokesman Maj. Ray Tuttoilmondo said the child, found by a fisherman on Oct. 29, was Riley Ann Sawyers, who lived in the town of Spring, Texas, the Houston Chronicle reported Monday.
Medical examiners determined the girl dubbed "Baby Grace" until her identity was established had sustained a skull fracture before her death, CNN said.
The girl's mother, Kimberly Trenor, 19, and her husband, Royce Zeigler, 24, were charged with injury to a child and tampering with evidence, and were in the Galveston County Jail on $350,000 bail after their arrests Saturday.
Tuttoilmondo said DNA samples had been taken from the mother and the child's father in Ohio, and results were expected Monday.
The arrests followed searches of the couples' home Saturday after a Nov. 7 tip from one of the mother's family members, the Chronicle said.
