NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Two Louisiana towns are dealing with incidents involving nooses hanging in city workplaces.

In Slidell, Mayor Ben Morris fired a laborer who failed to appear at a disciplinary hearing, The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune reported. The man, whose name has not been released, was suspended last week for three days after a dispute with a black supervisor.

The man allegedly hung a noose with a doll constructed from white paper hanging from it after the hearing. The incident also is being investigated by the FBI.

Meanwhile, Jefferson Parish plans to hold disciplinary hearings for seven supervisors. Racially charged materials, including two nooses, allegedly were kept near a supervisor's office for several years.
