KIEV, Ukraine, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- The Ukrainian government has resigned, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych said Friday at a meeting of the governing Verkhovna Rada in Kiev.

Yanukovych's government will perform its duties until a new government is formed, government officials said.

Vyacheslav Kyrylenko, leader of the 'Our Ukraine' political party, said the government resigned to protest the policies of Speaker Oleksandr Moroz, the Interfax news agency reported.
