WASHINGTON, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Nobel laureate Al Gore returns to the White House later this month for the first time since he lost the race for president to George W. Bush seven years ago.
Gore and Bush are to meet Nov. 26 in the Oval Office for a ceremony honoring this year's American Nobel laureates, including Gore, who shared the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on climate change, The New York Times reported Saturday.
Bush and Gore have spoke briefly on various occasions since Dec. 13, 2000, when Gore conceded the presidential race after a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Bush's favor. Gore won the popular vote, lost the presidential election and went on to find world renown as a environmental warrior warning of climate change, the Times reported.
Kalee Kreider, a spokeswoman for Gore, said the former vice president is one who looks ahead at his life, not back.
"I think this is really about all of the Nobel laureates and the prize and not about the past," Kreider said.
