LONDON, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Two days before he was arrested, Pakistani opposition leader Imran Khan sent his London lawyer a message that he fears for his life.

In the text message to his solicitor, who is also named Imran Khan, the star cricketer said Britain has put Pakistani opponents of President Pervez Musharraf in danger by failing to prosecute a Musharraf ally based in London, The Independent said.

Khan brought his campaign against Altaf Hussain, a leader of the MQM Party in Pakistan, to London earlier this year.

"Once MQM (Hussain) thinks he is safe, then my Karachi workers and my own life will be at great risk," he said in his message.

Khan was arrested Wednesday and charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act. He had been in hiding for several days and was detained by Islamist students when he surfaced to lead an opposition rally at Punjab University.

Hussain is under investigation in Britain for alleged money laundering. Khan, the solicitor, has also given authorities documents accusing Hussain of human rights violations.
