Judge orders tree sitter to stay away

OAKLAND , Calif., Nov. 15 (UPI) -- A California judge says a protester hospitalized after a three-story fall from a tree must stay away from the grove the man is trying to protect.

Nathaniel Hill, 24, faces a $1,000 fine, five days in jail or both if he violates the seven-day injunction, the Oakland (Calif.) Tribune said Wednesday.

Hill thought he had attached himself to a cable in the tree when he fell Sunday night from an oak tree at the University of California, Berkeley, the newspaper said.

Tree sitters living on wooden platforms in trees next to California Memorial Stadium at UC Berkeley are protesting a plan to build a $125 million sports training facility.

The newspaper said three groups are suing to stop construction of the training center.
