JERUSALEM, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- The Israeli Knesset is considering a bill that would use taxes collected for the Palestinian National Authority as compensation for militants' rocket attacks.
Knesset members Israel Hasson and Limor Livant recently introduced the proposed legislation in Parliament to provide compensation for rockets fired from Palestinian controlled areas, Ynetnews.com reported Wednesday.
Ynetnews said that the targeted tax funds would be used for evacuation costs related to the rocket attacks, along with any related costs stemming from property damage, mental health ailments and lost work days.
"I believe that the time has come that we hold the PA responsible for the actions of its people," Hasson said of the proposed law. The bill proposed is practical and represents the basic principles of justice, and that is the reason that it needs to be a nonpartisan matter and it is unthinkable that it would be opposed by any Zionist party."
The proposal has been passed by the Ministerial Committee on Legislation and Knesset members gave it preliminary approval.
