Iran submits nuclear info after two years

VIENNA, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- One of the critical documents on Iran's nuclear program the U.N. atomic watchdog wanted for the past two years has been handed over in Vienna.

Inspectors with the International Atomic Energy Agency in Iran had been able to view the scientific paper on how to cast uranium into nuclear warhead cores in Iran, but were not allowed to have copies for detailed scrutiny, a New York Times correspondent reported.

European sources who asked not to be identified said Iranian authorities didn't explain why they had the technology or what they had planned to do with it, the report said.

IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei was expected to elaborate on the document at a meeting this week of the agency's 35-country governing board in Vienna.

Tuesday in Iran, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi said it was another example of Iran's cooperation, adding it should be recognized as "cooperation, and measures taken by Iran towards confidence-building and its transparency," the state-run IRNA news agency reported.

Tehran has consistently denied international allegations it plans to use its electricity generation plants to build nuclear weapons.
