HILLSIDE, Ill., Nov. 13 (UPI) -- The body of the third wife of an Illinois police officer was exhumed Tuesday as the search continued for his fourth wife.
Kathleen Savio's death was ruled an accident after a neighbor found her naked body in a dry bathtub in 2004. Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow announced the exhumation after Illinois State Police declared her husband, Bolingbrook police Sgt. Drew Peterson, a suspect in the "potential homicide" of Stacy Peterson, the Chicago Tribune reported.
A relative said that Savio's family had been suspicious about her death. An autopsy found that she drowned, although there was also a large cut on her head.
"There's shock at how quickly everything is coming to be," Melissa Doman said. "Three-and-a-half years ago, it seemed like no one wanted to hear it."
Stacy Peterson disappeared two weeks ago.
On Monday, 70 volunteers searched for any sign of her in parks and other open areas in Will County, a suburban area southwest of Chicago.
