MUNICH, Germany, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Thousands of Turkish protesters thronged Munich and Frankfurt, Germany, protesting the Kurdish separatists engaged in conflict with Turkish forces.

Protesters chanted slogans opposing attacks against Turkish forces by the Kurdistan Worker's Party from its bases in northern Iraq, Deutsche Welle reported Sunday.

Protests in Berlin by Turks and Kurds turned violent two weeks ago when 18 policemen were injured. There were no reports of violence in the most recent protests.

Turkey amassed troops along its southern border with Iraq to deter attacks from the PKK operating out of the semi-autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan.

There are about 2.4 million Turks living in Germany.
